AP Tutoring in Flushing, Queens
AP Calculus AB/BC, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science A and Spanish, taught by NYS-certified teachers since 1996.
AP courses are where strong students earn college credit and where the transcript gets its rigor. They are also the courses with the least margin: one weak unit in AP Calculus or AP Chemistry costs a year's grade and the May exam. ABCMath's AP classes run a chapter ahead of school, so students meet each topic with us first and see it the second time in class.
Who AP tutoring is for
- 11th and 12th graders in an AP course who want a 4 or 5 in May and an A on the transcript. See 11th grade and 12th grade.
- 10th graders in Honors or Pre-AP science preparing for the AP course next year.
- Students taking an AP subject their school does not offer, or offers in a large class with little support.
Subjects
AP Calculus AB and BC
Limits, derivatives, integrals, differential equations and, for BC, series and parametric and polar functions. Every unit ends with free-response practice in the format the exam uses, with the justification language the rubric expects.
AP Physics
Mechanics, energy, momentum, rotation, electricity and magnetism, waves and modern physics, with the problem-solving setup, diagrams and units that make long problems routine.
AP Chemistry
Atomic structure, bonding, thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, electrochemistry and the laboratory reasoning the exam now emphasizes.
AP Biology
Biochemistry, cells, genetics, evolution, ecology and the experimental-design and data-analysis questions that carry much of the score.
AP Computer Science A
Java: classes and objects, arrays and ArrayLists, recursion, inheritance and the free-response coding questions. See also our coding classes.
AP Spanish
Reading, listening, speaking and writing at the AP level, continuing from our High School Spanish 1 to 4 sequence.

Frequently asked questions
When are AP exams?
AP exams are given in May each year. Our AP classes run through the school year, a chapter ahead of the school course, and switch to released free-response and multiple-choice practice in the spring.
Which AP subjects do you teach?
AP Calculus AB and BC, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Computer Science A and AP Spanish, following the subjects in our high-school program.
My child is taking an honors or pre-AP course, not AP yet. Does this apply?
Yes. Our science and math classes cover Regents, Honors, Pre-AP and AP levels, and students are placed in the section that matches their school course.
Is the class in person or online?
Both. Weekend classes meet in Flushing at Kissena Blvd and Beech Ave, with a live online option. Weekday online tutoring adds an hour a week for problem sets.
How do AP classes fit with SAT prep?
AP Calculus and AP science build directly on Algebra 2 and Precalculus, the same material SAT math tests. Many of our 11th graders take SAT prep and an AP class in the same year; the schedules are designed for it.
