SHSAT 2026 Test Dates, Registration Deadlines & Results Timeline
The fall 2026 SHSAT is for students who want to start at a specialized high school in September 2027. Here are the official NYC Public Schools dates for this cycle, followed by ABCMath's own course calendar.

If anything on the official page differs from this table, the official page wins.
What to do and when
- Now – October 30: register in MySchools. Decide the school ranking with your child before the deadline; the order is part of the registration and it determines which offer a given score produces. Our cutoff scores page shows where each school's lowest qualifying score has been.
- October: make sure your child has taken the official digital practice test at least once, under the real navigation rules. The 2026 test is computer-adaptive and does not allow going back in math.
- After October 30: download the test ticket from MySchools and confirm the testing site and arrival time, especially for weekend testers.
- Test week: the standard test time is 180 minutes and students must remain for the full session. No calculators. Sleep, breakfast, and a known route to the site matter more than any last-minute drilling.
- Spring 2027: results and offers. Students who tested in fall 2026 can sign up for a "Test View" in spring 2027 to see their test, per the DOE SHSAT page.

Frequently asked questions
When is the SHSAT in 2026?
Public-school 8th graders at schools that end in 8th grade test at their own school on Wednesday, November 18, 2026. Students at other schools test at a central site on Saturday, November 14 or Sunday, November 15. 9th graders test on Saturday, November 21. All per NYC Public Schools as of October 2026.
How do I register for the SHSAT?
Through your MySchools account, between October 6 and October 30, 2026. Your school counselor can help; the registration includes ranking the specialized high schools in your order of preference. NYC DOE lists no late registration after October 30.
When do SHSAT results come out?
NYC DOE has not yet announced the date for the fall 2026 test. For the previous cycle, results and offers were released on March 5, 2026, so expect roughly early March 2027. Check the official page for the announcement.
Can my child still join an SHSAT class after the course has started?
Call us at 718-888-7866. Late joiners can usually be placed in the Saturday class with catch-up material and the remaining Sunday mocks; whether it makes sense depends on how many weeks are left before November.
Is there testing accommodation for students with IEPs or 504 plans?
Yes, but documentation deadlines fall before the registration deadline and accommodations requested only for the SHSAT are not permitted. Speak to your school counselor as early as possible and confirm the current rules on the NYC DOE page.
