What is the 2026 CAT format and how is it different?
The 2026 SHSAT debuts a Computer-Adaptive Test (CAT) format. Students can no longer skip math questions, difficulty adjusts in real time based on responses, and there are new drag-and-drop interactive items. Old paper-based prep methods are no longer sufficient — ABCMath has rebuilt our entire curriculum to match the new format.
What's the difference between the 7-week and the 14-week courses?
The 7-week course ($1,400) covers the core SHSAT curriculum through 10/24/2026 — just before test day. The 14-week course ($1,600 — only $200 more) extends through 12/19/2026 and adds Townsend Harris application essay coaching, Algebra 1 Regents prep, and writing intensives. The 14-week course is our recommended path for families targeting the highest scores and the most competitive school placements.
Who teaches the class
Our teaching team averages 10+ years of SHSAT preparation experience. Many of our instructors are themselves Specialized HS alumni. Every instructor is trained on the 2026 CAT format.
Is the course in person or online?
Weekend classes (Saturdays and Sunday CAT mocks) are held in person at our Flushing, NY location. Weekday tutoring sessions are conducted online via live video with recordings available afterward.
How early should we enroll?
Early bird pricing saves $250 off regular tuition. Seats are limited each year and our SHSAT crash course historically fills before the start of the program. We recommend enrolling as soon as you've decided, to lock in your spot and the early bird rate.
