Test dates and deadlines: College Board, SAT Dates and Deadlines (read 2026-10-11). Score release dates are published on College Board's score release page; the November and December dates above are the ones listed by third-party calendars and should be confirmed there.
Things College Board's page says that are easy to miss
- Sunday testing is only available to students who cannot test on Saturday for religious reasons.
- Students who need to borrow a device from College Board must register and request it at least 30 days before test day, which is earlier than the registration deadline.
- Late registration is available but carries an additional fee.
- The same dates and deadlines apply to US and international students.
Planning the SAT around the NYC school year
For a Queens student the calendar usually looks like this: PSAT in October of 10th and 11th grade (given at school), a first official SAT in March of junior year, a second in May or June, and, if needed, August or October of senior year before early-application deadlines. That puts the bulk of preparation in the fall and winter of junior year, which is why our SAT classes run on that cycle. See the11th grade program for how it fits around schoolwork and AP courses.
A sophomore with strong algebra can reasonably take a first SAT in spring of 10th grade; a junior who has not finished Algebra 2 is usually better served waiting for May.

Frequently asked questions
When is the next SAT?
Saturday, November 7, 2026. The regular registration deadline is October 23, 2026 and the deadline for changes and late registration is October 27, 2026, per College Board. After that, December 5, 2026 (register by November 20).
How many times a year is the SAT offered?
Seven weekend dates in a typical year: August, October, November, December, March, May and June. The 2026–27 dates on this page are the ones College Board has published; August 2027 is not yet listed.
Which SAT date should a junior take?
Most juniors do best with a first official SAT in March of junior year, after a fall and winter of preparation, with May or June as a second attempt before summer. Seniors applying early decision or early action usually need an October or November test of senior year at the latest; check each college's deadline.
Is the SAT digital now?
Yes. The SAT has been fully digital in the US since spring 2024. It is taken on a laptop or tablet with the Bluebook app, is adaptive by module, and runs about 2 hours 14 minutes. Our SAT classes practise on the digital format only.
What is the late registration deadline?
College Board publishes one "deadline for changes, regular cancellation, and late registration" for each test, four days after the regular deadline. Late registration carries an additional fee. All deadlines expire at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Do NYC public high schools offer a free SAT School Day?
Many NYC public high schools administer the SAT during a school day in spring for juniors at no cost. Dates are set by the school, not by this calendar; ask the college counselor. It is a good reason to be prepared by March of junior year.
SAT is a trademark of College Board, which is not affiliated with ABCMath. Dates can change; confirm on College Board's site before registering.
